SHINTO KATANA (SH1001) CAS HANWEI
The CAS Hanwei Shinto katana is mounted in black and the tsuka-ito is in Japanese cotton over ray skin. The black iron tsuba is formed by a finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true back-and-front detail. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the piece. The blade is hand-forged in high-carbon steel with Bo-Hi. The blade is edge-tempered using the traditional clay tempering method, resulting in a distinct hamon. Edge hardness is 60HRC, back hardness 40HRC. The Shinto Katana finds its point of balance at 4 7/8 inches from the guard. The grip is double-pegged to the tang for safety. Includes a black lacquered hardwood scabbard, protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit.
