HAND AND A HALF WAR SWORD SH2366 Paul Chen / CAS Hanwei The War Sword by Paul Chen is a hand-and-a-half design from the early 14th century. The hardwood grip and elongated scent-stopper pommel make the 32” blade surprisingly easy to handle. This is yet another sword by Hanwie that exemplifies the attributes that a knightly sword of the highest quality can exhibit. Paul Chen swords are crafted in much the same way as swords were made centuries ago, except now the blades are forged from high-carbon spring steel. These swords will appeal to the re-enactor or collector who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.
The elongated scent-stopper pommel and handguard are made of solid steel and gives this blade a superb balance. The Battle of Agincourt The Battle of Agincourt was a major English victory in the Hundred Years' War. On Friday, 25 October 1415, Henry V led his troops into battle and participated in hand-to-hand fighting. The French king of the time, Charles VI, did not command the French army himself as he suffered from severe psychotic illnesses with moderate mental incapacitation. Instead, the French were commanded by Constable Charles d'Albret. This battle is notable for the use of the English longbow in very large numbers, with English and Welsh archers forming up to 80 per cent of Henry's army.
