ALBRECHT II HAND AND A HALF SWORD SH2034 by Paul Chen/Hanwei This Hand-and-a-Half Sword crafted by Paul Chen is replicated from a sword thought to be that of Albrecht II of Austria and represents the pinnacle of beauty and balance in medieval swords. Classically simple in design with a flattened diamond-section blade and cruciform hilt, the original dates from the early part of the 15th century. This Albrecht II Hand and a Half Sword is adorn with identifiable features such as "Lion Rampant" emblem of the Habsburg dynasty engraved in its pommel, while the Passau "Running Wolf" guild mark and a marigold maker's mark are beautifully engraved within the blade fuller.
The 35 inch dual edge sharpened blade is constructed of durable 1566 High Carbon Steel tapering to a devastating point, making both cutting and thrusting lethal choices while in the heat of battle. In combination with a large steel wheel pommel, the classic cruciform hilt consists of a steel guard and a roomy 6 5/8" wooden contoured grip has been corded and covered in black leather, all offering comfort, hand-blade orientation, and outstanding quickness and overall balance. The full tang blade extends through the pommel where it is peened for strong, secure functionality.
The magnificent Paul Chen Hand and a Half Sword SH2034 is an authentic replica of the Museum Piece, fully functional, with excellent handling and balance characteristics certainly enjoyed by its original owner. The Albrecht II Sword includes a handsome solid core scabbard covered in matching black leather, fitted with steel locket and chape.

Paul Chen Swords Paul Chen swords are crafted in much the same way as swords were made centuries ago, except now the blades are forged from high-carbon spring steel. The blade finish is far from being mirror polished; again more closely replicating what the medieval swordsmith was able to achieve. Except as noted the grips are leather covered hardwood. Fittings are either steel or solid brass. These swords will appeal to the re-enactor or cutting practitioner who wants a sword with the same appearance as the originals.
