THE BATTLECRY AGINCOURT SWORD 501506 Windlass Steelcrafts
Filling an under served niche in available swords today, the Agincourt hand-and-half sword from Windlass Steelcrafts Battlecry collection is a slender, light, quick weapon well-suited to facing armored or unarmored adversaries. Its sharpened blade of 1065 high carbon steel is well-tempered to have a hardness of 50-52 HRC.
As part of the Windlass Battlecry line it is crafted to have a thick, peened tang to ensure it is durably fitted; each blade given with a unique antique-blued finish which is designed to resist rusting easily. The crossguard and pommel are blued mild-steel and the grip is wrapped in stitched black leather. The Agincourt functions as a Hand-and-a-Half sword with its elongated grip and a blade length befitting a single-handed sword. This gives the sword an agile balance which allows it to be used both single or double-handed with ease.
The leather scabbard is capped by a steel chape and locket with a finish to match the sword. Two swivel-riveted straps are used to wear it from a sword belt. The Battlecry Agincourt Sword comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by each smith that touched your blade through every step of the forging process.
One could easily envision English long-bowmen and knights alike wielding this blackened blade on the fields of the famous and disastrous battle honored in the naming of this sword.

The term hand-and-a-half is more of modern designation for a range of sword types that featured tapered blades longer than the common shorter arming swords of the time but without the double-hand grips of larger heavier war-swords. In full armor a heavy sword is no advantage and a narrow point on a slimmer blade is ideal for getting into the vulnerable spots on another armored combatant. At the same time, the advantage of having a faster weapon with a extended grip that could still be adroitly handled with both hands, provided knights and men-at-arms alike with a resourceful option.
