HUGUES DE PAYENS SWORD 4188/NQ (Silver Finish) DENIX
Hugues de Payens was a French Knight in the Champagne region and co-founder and first Grand Master of the Knights Templar. At the request of Pope Urban II, he organized the original nine monk-knights to defend pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land. The Silver First Crusade Hugues De Payens Sword created by Denix of Spain measures 44 inches overall with a 34 inch blade and a features a hilt cast metal alloy and given a lustrous antique silver finish.
The Sword honoring the original Templar (4188/NQ) has a cast metal blade that is elaborately etched with mysterious symbols and a rampant winged lion. The cruciform hit features forward swept quillions each brilliantly decorated with rows of Fleur De Lis and a Templar Cross emblazoned upon the hand guard's center. A large Templar Cross is centered in the sword's wheel style pommel.
A cast wire wrap handle is divided by smooth silver fittings that have been given a lustrous polished nickel finish. The Hughes De Payens Sword comes complete with a simulated black leather wrapped scabbard with bold red crossing accent straps, and fitted with polished nickel throat and chape. The blades of Denix swords are cast from a metal alloy and cannot be sharpened, making them safe for display in family environments, medieval festivals and activities.
