ENGRAVED M1851 COLT NAVY REVOLVER 1040B by Denix of Spain
The Colt 1851 Navy or Navy Revolver, is a cap and ball revolver that was designed by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850. This design is similar to the Army 1860 revolver but it fires a smaller caliber, the Colt Navy 1851 fires a .36 caliber shot. This beautifully decorated two-tone edition of the Colt Navy percussion revolver is a very realistic non-firing replica created by Denix of Spain.

This elaborate metal replica maintains correct size, weight and detailing as the originals. This replica features a gold and silver coloured metal frame which is engraved in scrollwork detailing making for a nice decorative piece. The barrel has naval ships engraved on it in high detail and the grips are of checkered simulated ivory.

This Denix non-firing replica has the size and handling characteristics of the original, with functional lock and loading mechanisms. This replica revolver can be cocked and fired, when the hammer is pulled part way back the chamber will rotate allowing the reloading process to be performed.

This percussion revolver was widely used in the American Civil War and it continued to be a prominent firearm in the settling of the American west. Hence, the Colt Navy has been used in many films, far too many to list here but some of them include: John Wayne in "The Big Trail", "How the west was won", "The good the bad and the ugly", "Glory", "Gettysburg", "Dances with Wolves" and "Wyatt Earp".

Colt first named this Revolver "the Ranger model"; but the designation "Navy" quickly took over. It remained in production until 1873, when revolvers using fixed metallic cartridges came into widespread use.
